خرق الاتفاق
في الأسبوع الأخير من عام 2016 شنت قوات النظام حملة عسكرية على مناطق وادي بردى على الرغم من وجود اتفاقية بين النظام السوري وأهالي وادي بردى، وتعود الاتفاقية للشهر العاشر من عام 2015، حيث يكفل الاتفاق السابق بالسماح لمهندسي الصيانة بالدخول وإنجاز عملهم لضمان استمرار ضخ المياه إلى دمشق مقابل فتح الطرقات للمدنيين وإدخال الغذاء إلى أهالي الوادي المحاصرين حينها.
تسببت الحملة العسكرية الأخيرة بأضرار كبيرة لحرم نبع الفيجة المعتمد بشكل أساسي كمصدر لمياه الشرب، كما توقف ضخ مياه نبع بردى نتيجة تضرر في المضخات، وبذلك فقد سكان دمشق مصادرهم المائية بسبب منهجية قوات الأسد في القتل على مبدئ (الأسد أو نحرق البلد) دونما أي حسبان للعواقب

ليست هذه المرة الأولى لانقطاع المياه في دمشق، لكنها الأخطر والأكثر تأثيراً على العاصمة ومستقبل المياه فيها
لمياه بردى فضل على العاصمة التي لم تكن لتشهد تطوراً وتوسعاً حضارياً لولا المشروع الوطني الذي تأسس على ايدي رجال وطنيين منذ عام 1932، وتعرضت مياه بردى للإهمال والإساءة في عهد الأسد الأب والأبن لم تشهده سابقاً، حيث اهملت مصادر المياه من الرعاية وبات مجرى النهر مكباً للنفايات ومصب لمجاري الصرف الصحي نتيجة تخلف الحكومة في تطوير البنية التحتية.

يعتقد سكان العاصمة حالياً أن خروج أهالي المنطقة كفيل بحل مشكلة انقطاع المياه في دمشق، إلا أن هذه النظرة الخالية من الإنسانية أساساً، تفتقد للإدراك الكامل لحجم الخسارة التي تسبب فيها قصف المنطقة ومن الصعب أن تعود المياه إلى مجاريها قريباً.
